The Power of Positive Thinking

I want to introduce you to one of my dearest friends, Meghan Johnson, who I happen to also work with... or as we call it, "do life with"! Meghan has played a vital role in how I've learned to develop healthy relationships and has taught me a lot about opening the floodgates of healthy communication in my life. I won't steal her spotlight, though, I know she has some powerful words to share with you... I know you'll enjoy!

Hello Everyone!

Let me start off by saying that I am more than excited to team up with Erika here on her blog. Not only is she wildly creative, driven, hard-working, and determined, but she is also my best friend! Her desire for constant, never-ending improvement is inspiring, and I know this is what draws you to her consistently. Needless to say, I feel privileged to be writing for her blog and more excited to meet many of you readers!

First off, I want to introduce myself to you and to share my passion for helping others with you. I remain "that friend" whom everyone calls for relationship advice, life advice, encouragement, etc. I also want to be that for you as well. I have always loved being in the helping profession, and that passion burns within me constantly.

My education consists of a master's degree in Human Services: Counseling, and I love using the knowledge I have obtained to help others. I am excited to be a part of Erika's mission to help you live the life you were created to live!

I am going to let Erika stick to the nutrition insight on this blog, but did you know that there is more to being the healthiest version of you than simply the food you are putting in your body?

We have all heard it before. "Visualize where you want to go", "Put positive in, get positive out", "Is your glass half full or half empty?", etc.

Consider this: Have you ever asked yourself what the power of positive thinking can do for YOU?

Or maybe you're thinking the people who made these cliches up have only experience "good" or "luck" in her life? "Those" people have never gone through the struggles I've had to experience. They don't understand the pain I've experienced.

Have you said these things before?

We marvel at the lives of successful people and wonder, "what's their secret?" How come other people get lucky and not me? I wish I had _______. Fill in the blank. Unfortunately, I've been there too! I've wasted countless hours WISHING I lived someone else's life, wishing my bank account was fatter, my body slimmer, and my jean size smaller.

Did you ever stop to think that maybe "those" people are successful because they had the courage to overcome the fear and negativity and create their own lives? They had a vision, and without question a positive attitude to go along with it.

Does that sound familiar? Good, me too -- you're not alone.

Let me ask you a question: what toxic habits inhibit you from living out your purpose in life? What keeps you from being the best version of yourself you can be? Is it negative thinking, toxic relationships, addiction, stress... ? Narrow down what is blocking your success, and CHOOSE to change! That's right... I said CHOOSE. Make a choice.

You have the power to choose.

Here's my challenge for you, something you can leave today, act upon and start living a more positive life:

Every single morning, immediately after waking up, tell yourself 5 positive things out loud (preferably while looking in the mirror). Don't worry about believing if they are true or not, you will get there and sooner or later you'll start to believe these things as truth.

Proverbs 23:7 tells us, "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he." Begin your journey with positive thinking. Live intentionally. Do something! Get up and go live the life you were meant to live! Be the healthiest and best version of YOU that you can be.
